ABOUTRed Threads: A Shibari Zine is a collaborative effort between artists to celebrate the beauty of the art of the Shibari.While a form of BDSM, it is not always inherently sexual. There are many reasons for people to practice Shibari, including as a form of artistic expression. The artists of the zine wished to create a zine showing the beauty of Shibari, and how it can connect people together in an artistic fashion.WHAT IS SHIBARI?Shibari (meaning "to tie"), also known as Kinbaku, is a Japanese contemporary form of rope bondage, usually with intricate geometric patterns. The ropes and their texture provide contrast to smooth skin and curves. In Shibari, the model is the canvas, the rope is the paint and brush, and the rigger is the rope artist.WHAT IS A ZINE?A zine (or a fanzine) is an unofficial publication produced by fans for other fans. They are usually a collaboration of artworks, written works and even merchandise. These can come in a digital and/or physical form.IS THIS A PHYSICAL OR DIGITAL ZINE?It is both! The zine will be avaliable in physical, printed format as well as a digital PDF.IS THIS ZINE FOR PROFIT?This zine is technically for profit. However there will be a kickstarter.
